Library Services Contract for 2012

A December 15, 2011 library services contract was signed between the Walla Walla County Rural Library District and the City of Walla Walla.  You may view the contract here.

This means that rural library district residents will have access to the Walla Walla Public Library in 2012.

Two Library Cards

To maintain access to all of the library materials rural library district residents are eligible for, they will be required to use two separate library cards in 2012.

The Walla Walla Public Library will not be a member of the WALNET library consortium in 2012.  This means that the WALNET library card will not be accepted there after January 1, 2012.  The Walla Walla Public Library will have a separate library catalog, a new library catalog website, and a new physical library card in 2012.

Residents of the rural library district who desire services from the Walla Walla Public Library will need to sign up for a separate library card at the Walla Walla Public Library in 2012.  Visit the Walla Walla Public Library and the staff there will gladly sign you up for a new account.  Please keep your WALNET library card as it is still valid at all WALNET member libraries.

Your current WALNET library card and the WALNET online catalog website (http://www.walnetlib.net) will remain the same.  The only change is the Walla Walla Public Library is no longer a member of WALNET - and the WALNET library card will not allow you to borrow, or request, their library materials in person or online.

Rural library district residents may access WALNET materials, and pick up requested items from WALNET, at any of these library locations:

We understand this change may be inconvenient for many rural library district residents.  Please use the links above to contact the WALNET library nearest you - friendly staff at any of these libraries will gladly help you determine all of the library services that you are eligible for.
