Rural Library District Announces Location for New County Library and Administrative Center

The Walla Walla County Rural Library District Board of Trustees cast a unanimous vote at its meeting on Monday, March 11, to purchase the 1.9 acre parcel of land at 1685 S. College Avenue, just north of Sager School in College Place, for its new County Central Library and Administrative Center. The property is being purchased by the District for $250,000.

After nearly a year’s search, the Board believes this property is ideally located to serve its suburban library residents and the many rural families living in developments to the south and west of the greater Walla Walla area. It is also easily accessible, being near the intersection where Mojonnier Road becomes SE Lamperti St., just north of Hwy. 125, and about 1/3 mile from the Wal-mart parking lot entrance on SE Lamperti. The property is also on a major bus line that connects from Walla Walla Community College through College Place to the Sager School.

There is easy connectivity to the other rural library branches by traveling north on College Avenue to Rose St. then on to the junction of Myra Road and Hwy. 12.

Architect Jon Campbell will be preparing a formal display of the plans for the new 15,000 s.f. library when they are finalized. The display will be on exhibit at the Plaza Library and around the District in the near future.
